Whatnot shipping for sellers

On a normal US order the buyer pays shipping at checkout, and Whatnot generates the prepaid label. Your job is the profile before the sale, and the weight before you print.

The rate the buyer sees

Figures below are what buyers pay, transcribed from Whatnot’s US shipping article, updated October 23, 2026. Whatnot says the rates took effect July 31, 2026, and that they include Whatnot’s handling fee. They are not a USPS counter price.

Buyer-paid USPS amounts for shipments Whatnot prices as a flat rate. Over 5 pounds, Ground Advantage starts at $9.69 and varies by zone, so it is not in this table.
ServicePacked weightBuyer pays
Ground AdvantageUnder 4 oz$4.47
Ground Advantage4 oz to under 8 oz$4.85
Ground Advantage8 oz to under 12 oz$5.25
Ground Advantage12 oz to under 1 lb$6.75
Ground Advantage1–5 lb, any US address$7.75
Flat Rate, any box size, up to 70 lbMust be an official Flat Rate box$12.99, temporary through December 2026
First-Class Mail letterUp to 3 oz, plain white envelope$0.78, $1.09, or $1.39 by ounce

USPS prices on “weight not over.” A 5 lb package stays on the $7.75 rate. A package of 5 lb 1 oz is a 6 lb shipment, and the price jumps. Whatnot recommends Ground Advantage at $7.75 for shipments of 1 to 5 pounds. Priority Mail is available and usually costs more. Whatnot says it is for perishables.

UPS Ground Saver is a limited pilot for shipments over 5 pounds, with published pilot rates of $11.00 for 6–10 lb, $12.99 for 11–15 lb, and $18.40 for 16–20 lb. If UPS is not in your Shipping Settings, it is not on your account yet. Orders UPS cannot deliver, including PO boxes and Alaska or Hawaii, fall back to USPS.

Put the buyer’s shipping into the fee calculator when you want processing on that total. The $7.75 is not profit, and it is not a second fee on top of the label Whatnot already generated.

The profile is the price

Every listing needs a shipping profile. Whatnot uses the packed weight, including the box and filler, to decide what the buyer pays, which service is offered, how orders bundle, and what the label says. A suggested profile is enough when the item can ship with other items. A custom profile is for a max bundle size, a fragile piece that should ship alone, or a lower weight for each extra item after the first box.

The profile name has to match a profile Whatnot already knows, or a custom profile you created. A spreadsheet cannot invent “8 ounces” in that field. That constraint is the same one on the CSV import.

Two profiles that are not allowed to bundle will not share a box. If the packed weight in the profile is low, the label can be underpaid. If it is high, the buyer pays more than the parcel needed.

When the correction is yours

You can edit weight, dimensions, signature, and insurance on a shipment before the label. USPS re-weighs after drop-off. Whatnot’s article says that starting November 4, 2026, weight-based adjustments on USPS labels are charged to your ledger for shipments sent on or after that date. Dimension and hazmat adjustments were still covered by Whatnot when that article was updated. Appeals are in the Carrier Adjustments dashboard, within 45 days, one appeal per shipment.

Signature confirmation is automatic on eligible US shipments with an order subtotal of $500 or more. The seller pays $4.36 plus tax. You can add it to a smaller shipment before generating the label. UPS Ground Saver does not offer signature. Those high-value orders ship USPS instead, and the same $4.36 applies.

A Priority Mail or Flat Rate box with a Ground Advantage or UPS label can draw a carrier adjustment of about $20, and the package may come back. Use your own plain packaging for Ground Advantage. Free Priority Mail and Flat Rate boxes are for those labels only.

Print Whatnot’s label

After the sale, generate the label from Shipments in Seller Hub on the web. Whatnot says to use that label unless you are approved for Bring Your Own Label. Another label can stall tracking and payout. Labels are 8.5×11 inches by default, or 4×6 for a thermal printer. Pop-ups have to be allowed, because the file is a PDF. How to switch the size is in what printer to use.

Whatnot’s help says orders should ship within two business days of the sale, and that you scan the package in the app when you hand it to the carrier. Payout timing is on the order in Seller Hub. This page does not restate it, because that clock is Whatnot’s and it has changed before.

Shippo is extra coverage, not the label

Whatnot’s US article says every Ground Advantage and Priority Mail label bought on Whatnot includes coverage up to $100. More coverage is Shipping Protection, added before you generate the label, via Shippo or XCover, and charged to your ledger immediately. XCover excludes categories including bullion, cash, and plants. A search for Shippo and Whatnot is this add-on. It is not how a standard order gets its postage.

Rates and which adjustments you pay were read from Whatnot’s help on November 3, 2026. Whatnot said Flat Rate at $12.99 would stay through December 2026 and then change, with notice. If Shipping Settings shows a different number, use that number. nothub is not affiliated with Whatnot, USPS, UPS, Shippo, or XCover.

Questions sellers ask

How much is shipping on Whatnot?+

Whatnot’s US shipping article lists buyer rates effective July 31, 2026. USPS Ground Advantage is $7.75 flat from 1 to 5 pounds, to any US address. Under a pound the published steps are $4.47, $4.85, $5.25, and $6.75. Over 5 pounds, Ground Advantage starts at $9.69 and varies by zone. USPS Flat Rate is a temporary $12.99.

Do Whatnot sellers pay for shipping?+

On a normal order the buyer pays the rate at checkout and Whatnot generates a prepaid label. The seller pays when the packed weight or box was wrong and a carrier adjustment is charged, when signature confirmation is added, or when the seller pays postage outside that label, such as some giveaways.

What is Shippo on Whatnot?+

Whatnot’s US shipping article names Shippo, alongside XCover, as a way to add Shipping Protection before you generate a label. That charge goes on your ledger. Ordinary labels are still Whatnot’s prepaid labels, not labels you buy from Shippo.

The label is the last step.
